Metrology in air-conditioning engineering.

Métrologie en génie climatique.

Author(s) : DUPUIS T., DELMAS G.

Type of monograph: Book, Guide/Handbook

Summary

Air-conditioning installations require the measurement of various physical parameters during commissioning, acceptance or use. Air speed, liquid flow rate, temperature, pressure, ambient conditions, achieved capacities and acoustic pressure levels are to be quantified, but those involved do not use the same measuring techniques and do not follow the same rules through lack of knowledge of the existing reference systems. Various standardized methods associated with specific systems exist but remain poorly known, and the rules are used according to individual interpretation. Consequently, the quality of the measurements is unreliable and assessing the results proves difficult. The theoretical background on the notions of uncertain measurements, error calculation and full tolerance of the practical aspects are presented. A presentation of existing regulations in terms of measuring device calibration conclude the book. Extract from the table of contents: measuring air flows, water flows, temperature, hygrometry, air pressure and air pressure loss, water pressure charge and water pressure loss, vapour pressure loss, combustion yields, liquid density, equipment rotation speed, electricity use and acoustic aspects.
