Summary

The joint IDF-ISO-AOAC Group of Experts E6 produced two draft enzymatic methods for the determination of the lactose content of milk and milk products, especially dry milk and ice mixes. These methods have been circulated to the members of Group E6 and other experts in the field of enzymatic analysis. After amendment of the methods in the light of the comments received, they were collaboratively tested in order to establish the repeatability and reproducibility. In January 1988 this collaborative study was organized, the results of which are discussed in the preliminary report.
