Summary

A TEST MACHINE WAS DESIGNED IN ORDER TO CARRYOUT TRIALS ON CO NTROLLING THE ENERGY INPUT AS WELL AS THE CONTINUOUS FLOW RATE OF THE WEAK SOLUTION. THE MACHINE CONSISTED OF A HIGH TEMPERATURE GAS-FIRED GENERATOR, SEPARATOR, LOW TEMPERATURE GENERATOR, ABSORBER, CONDENSER, EVAPORATOR AND HIGH AND LOW TEMPERATURE HEAT EXCHANGERS. THE WORKING FLUID WAS WATER-LITHIUM BROMIDE AND THE OUTPUT OF THE MACHINE WAS 80 KILOWAT. THE EXPERIMENTS HAVE SHOWN THAT THERE IS AN OPTIMAL WEAK SOLUTION FLOW RATE WHICH MAXIMISES THE COP, BUT THE OPTIMAL CONDITION IS CLOSELY RELATED TO THE REFRIGERANT VAPOUR FLOW RATE FROM THE SEPARATOR TO THE HIGH TEMPERATURE HEAT EXCHANGER.
