MODELLING AND CONTROL OF A DOUBLE-EFFECT ABSORPTION REFRIGERATING MACHINE. 1. MODEL ANALYSIS.

Author(s) : HIHARA E.

Summary

ABSORPTION MACHINES HAVE BEEN CONTROLLED TRADITIONALLY EITHER BY ON/OFF SWITCHING OR BY A PROPORTIONAL CONTROL SYSTEM WHICH SUFFERS FROM EXCESSIVE TIME LAG AND DOES NOT PRODUCE OPTIMUM ECONOMY. IN ORDER TO IMPROVE CONTROL, A MATHEMATICAL MODEL HAS BEEN DEVELOPED FOR A LITHIUM BROMIDE, DOUBLE-EFFECT ABSORPTION CIRCUIT. IN SIMULATING VARIOUS CHANGES, IT WAS FOUND THAT THERE IS AN OPTIMUM FLOW RATE FOR THE WEAK SOLUTION AT ANY CAPACITY WHICH MAXIMISES THE COP. ALSO A MULTI-VARIABLE OPEN LOOP CONTROL SYSTEM CAN BE USED WHICH PERMITS SMOOTH VARIATION IN COOLING CAPACITY WITH MINIMUM FUEL CONSUMPTION. D.W.H.
