Modelling and performance analysis for a novel adsorption cycle operated by periodic reversal forced convection (PRFC).

Author(s) : LAI H. M.

Summary

An interesting improvement in performances is envisaged by applying the fixed bed adsorbers with the forced unsteady-state operation of periodic flow reversal to convective thermal wave cycle, which results in the so-called PRFC cycle. To describe process behaviour for this kind of cycle with seven possible operating modes of flow reversal, a two-phase, one-dimensional model for the zeolite 13X-water pair is developed. The best flow reversal-operating mode is proposed, with the corresponding COP.
