Modelling compressors and chilling systems.

Summary

Simple compressor and chiller models are required in order to obtain a realistic energy analysis of a whole air-conditioning system. The new modelling approach presented consists in describing all the components by comparison with combinations of simple classical processes. Reference to fictitious but meaningful processes appears to be very effective, allowing the authors to represent real performances with much fewer parameters than usually used by pure curve-fitting techniques. This approach also allows much better extrapolations outside the usual domain of use. A modelling proposal is given in the paper for reciprocating chillers in full load.
