Summary
At Renault, PSA and VALEO's instigation, this research programme on thermal comfort in automobiles was started in the form of an Industry-Research partnership. The goal of the operation was to fine-tune a tool that would allow the main parameters for thermal comfort to be optimised. A modelling code for the aerothermal exchange between the compartment and its environment as well as inside the compartment was evolved so that speed and temperature fields as well as the thermal flows concerned are known precisely.
