Modified-atmosphere storage: following the trail of nitrogen generators.

Entreposage en atmosphère modifiée : la piste des générateurs d'azote.

Summary

Micro-perforated films or polymer membranes make it possible to achieve modified atmospheres in small units, but this technique, as well as controlled atmosphere in cold rooms, do not make it possible to control oxygen levels independently of carbon dioxide. Furthermore, the decrease in oxygen levels is rather slow because of respiration. These two drawbacks can be solved by using nitrogen generators.
