Monte Carlo simulation of the direct and inverse magnetocaloric effect in Heusler Ni-Mn-X (X= Ga, In, Sb) alloys by using a real unit cell.

Summary

In this work, the authors present a realistic model for investigation of magnetic and magnetocaloric properties of these Heusler alloys by the classical Monte Carlo simulations using ab initio exchange constants. By the help of the proposed theoretical model the temperature dependences of the magnetization, tetragonal deformation, magnetic heat capacity, direct and inverse isothermal magnetic entropy changes for magnetic field variation are obtained. All quantities are in good agreement with the available experimental data.
