Summary

MULTI-SYSTEM AIR CONDITIONERS FOR COMMERCIAL USE ARE AIR-COOLED MULTI-ZONE HEAT PUMPS AND THEY COMBINE THE BENEFITS OF CENTRALIZED SYSTEMS WITH THE CONVENIENCE OF UNITARY SYSTEMS FOR INDIVIDUAL CLIMATE CONTROL, ENERGY SAVING AND EASE OF IN-STALLATION. A NUMBER OF LOCALLY CONTROLLED INDOOR UNITS ARE CONNECTED TO A SINGLE OUTDOOR UNIT, THUS ENABLING THE INDOOR UNITS TO BE SHUT OFF IN UNOCCUPIED ROOMS, IN CONTRAST TO CENTRALIZED DUCTED SYSTEMS. UNLIKE ABSORPTION REFRIGERATION UNITS OR CHILLING UNITS BASED ON INDIRECT SYSTEMS WITH WATER AS THE COOLING AND HEATING MEDIUM, MULTI-SYSTEM AIR CONDITIONERS USE A DIRECT EXPANSION CHLOROFLUOROCARBON SYSTEM, THUS ELIMINATING CORROSION AND LEAKAGE PROBLEMS.
