Summary

This paper presents new possibilities for remote monitoring of food quality parameters throughout the transportation chain. The most critical and failure-causing element of such monitoring is the data transmission. As a result, only the multimodal data transmission can ensure a successful performance of the monitoring system. The main advantages and disadvantages of different data transmission modes are described. In conclusion, general guidelines for development of monitoring systems are outlined.
