Summary

The development of hermetic compressor conversions and a new compressor design are outlined to show how a once common energy efficiency range of 1.17-1.29 escalated to above 1.61. Miscibility and solubility with R134a and the lubricant of choice are explored. Compatibility with compressors materials, lubricity and stability are examined in order to better see chemically, mechanically, and thermodynamically, the results of this endeavour.
