New intermetallic compounds for magnetic refrigeration.

Author(s) : MAZET T., RECOUR Q., VERNIERE A., et al.

Summary

The magnetocaloric properties of two families of intermetallic compounds, namely Mn(3-x)Cu(x)Sn(2) (x inferior or equal to 0.3) and RTiGeC(0.1) (R= Tb, Dy) are evaluated in terms of magnetic entropy change and cooling capacity. These phases are characterized by ferromagnetic-like second order magnetic transitions in the 190-310 K temperature range. Their potential technological interest is briefly discussed.
