Summary

ANY SORPTION HEAT PUMP IS A DOUBLE EXERGY CONVERTER: CONVERSION OF THERMAL EXERGY INTO CHEMICAL EXERGY IN A GENERATOR, AND THEN REVERSE CONVERSION OF CHEMICAL EXERGY INTO THERMAL EXERGY IN AN ABSORBER. THE EXERGY-ECONOMIC YIELD IS THE RATIO OF THE USEFUL PRODUCED EXERGY TO THE EXPENSIVE CONSUMED EXERGY. TO INCREASE THIS YIELD, SEVERAL TECHNIQUES ARE PROPOSED: ONE OF THEM CONSISTS IN ASSOCIATING A CLASSICAL FRACTIONAL DISTILLATION COLUMN AND A SECOND SIMILAR COLUMN OPERATING ON THE REVERSE MODE. THE ADVANTAGE OF THIS SYSTEM IS THAT IT ALLOWS THE HEAT PUMP EFFECT, TO BE ACHIEVED BY USING ANY MISCIBLE COMPONENTS. ANOTHER TECHNIQUE CONSISTS IN USING A GENERATOR WITH MULTIPLE EVAPORATION-CONDENSATION EFFECTS WHICH ARE INTERCONNECTED IN VARIOUS WAYS.
