THE DELAMINE BV PRODUCE AND MARKET A RANGE OF ETHYLENE AMINES ; THE CAPACITY OF THE PLANT BEING 15,000 TONS PER YEAR. THE PRODUCTION PROCESSES REQUIRE STEAM AT 450 KILOPASCALS AND AT 423 K (150 DEG C) AND ATMOSPHERIC WATER VAPOUR IS CONDENSED IN AIR COOLERS. THE QUESTION WAS HOW THIS ENERGY COULD BE MADE EFFECTIVE. A HIGH TEMPERATURE ABSORPTION HEAT PUMP EFFECTIVELY USES THE PREVIOUSLY WASTED HEAT. THIS PLANT IS BRIEFLY DESCRIBED. TECHNICAL SPECIFICATIONS ARE TABULATED AND SOME HEAT BALANCE DATA ARE GIVEN.
