Summary

In this paper, the results of recent research on "warm ice" cool storage technology are reported. The results include two major achievements. One is new refrigerant blends, the other is the development of a highly efficient "warm ice" storage system which is named inner-heat-exchange/outer-crystallization warm ice (IHEOC-WI) storage system. In this configuration, the "warm ice" can be formed effectively and the thermal energy can be released and stored with high efficiency. For application of the IHEOC-WI storage system in practical air-conditioning engineering, a suitable application mode is developed. It is shown that the proposed application mode can meet the engineering requirements for air-conditioning standards and is more economical than ordinary ice-storage air-conditioning systems.
