Numerical analysis of an active magnetic regenerator: a parametric study.

Author(s) : ROUDAUT J., KEDOUS-LEBOUC A., YONNET J. P., et al.

Summary

A one-dimensional transient model of active magnetic regenerator was developed. The model consists of parallel plates separated by channels of a heat transfer fluid. The magnetocaloric properties were calculated using the mean field theory. A parametric study was performed and the influence of the number of transfer units, the utilization ratio, the solid thermal conductivity and the fluid thermal conductivity were highlighted. Finally, it was shown that magnetic field inhomogeneity has no significant influence on AMR performance.
