Numerical investigation of the efficiency of high pressure ratio centrifugal compressor stage elements.

Number: pap. n. 52

Author(s) : OBUKHOV O., SMIRNOV A., GUSAK O., et al.

Summary

The results of the numerical investigation of gas flow through different parts of the high pressure ratio centrifugal compressor stage are presented in the paper. The main purpose of the research was to obtain efficiency of the impeller, vaned diffuser and the return bend and to check consistency of their characteristics. Simulations were carried out for 9 different operating points, determined by mass flow rate at the computational domain outlet. The points limiting the performance correspond to choke and near surge operating points. As a result gas-dynamic characteristics of each stage element have been predicted, and the consistency of the elements has been checked.
