Numerical simulation of natural refrigerants flow boiling in a tube.

Number: pap. n. 253

Author(s) : MECIEB F. Z., OUADHA A.

Summary

The aim of this paper is to present a numerical study of the boiling flow of natural refrigerants, namely, propane and isobutane, in a vertical tube of 1.1 mm diameter using the VOF multiphase flow model. The numerical predictions allow to show different two-phase flow patterns and heat transfer coefficient distribution for different operating conditions by varying the heat flux and the mass velocity. All computations have been carried out at a fixed pressure of 8 bars.
