Summary

The paper presents an original approach of the finite difference technique applied to the problem of one-dimensional unsteady heat conduction with phase change in annular regions outside cylindrical walls. This approach considers a constant step network for the phase-change material domain. The influences of the metallic wall as well as the initial superheating of the phase-change material are taken into consideration.
