ON ENERGY SAVING IN REFRIGERATED WAREHOUSES IN JAPAN.

Author(s) : IMURA S.

Summary

WITH THE CURRENT PRICE OF ELECTRICITY IN JAPAN, POWERCOSTS ARE APPROXIMATELY 14% OF TOTAL COSTS IN OPERATING REFRIGERATED WAREHOUSES. THIS INCLUDES FROM 1.5 TO 2.0 KILOW PER 100 TONS FOR AIR-COOLER FANS. THE AUTHOR SUGGESTS THAT BY REDUCING FAN SPEED A SUBSTANTIAL SAVING CAN BE MADE. OTHER SAVINGS FROM BETTER CONDENSER MAINTENANCE, REDUCED DOOR OPENING, EXTERNAL SHADING, AND ELECTRIC LIGHT SAVING ALSO CAN CONTRIBUTE.
