On the prediction of flow boiling heat transfer of CO2.
Author(s) : CHENG L., RIBATSKI G., THOME J. R.
Summary
An updated general flow pattern based flow boiling heat transfer model has been developed for CO2 using the Cheng-Ribatski-Wojtan-Thome CO2 flow pattern map and flow boiling heat transfer model as a starting point. Several modifications of the flow pattern map have been implemented. A new annular flow to dryout transition (A-D) and a new dryout to mist flow transition (D-M) have been proposed to extend the flow pattern map to a wider range of conditions. In addition, a bubbly flow region has been added to the flow pattern map. Based on the updated flow pattern map, the updated general flow boiling heat transfer model has been developed. The proposed model has predicted reasonably well an extensive experimental database derived from the literature.
