Operating stability of a thermostatic expansion valve.
Stabilité de fonctionnement d'un détendeur thermostatique.

Summary
An experimental study was done of the evaporating stability of thermostatic expansion valves. The installation was used to test different valves with a variable evaporator capacity between 500 and 6000 watts. The evolution of their static characteristics for different evaporation temperatures was determined. In the same way, the evaporator characteristics (MSS curve) has been obtained. A comparison between those characteristics helped to define a stability criterion. Instabilities appear for low rotational speeds and temperatures, limiting the capacity range to a ratio of about 1 to 3.
