Operating stability of a thermostatic expansion valve.

Summary
The authors made an experimental study of the non-hunting conditions of the thermostatic expansion valves with a variable evaporator capacity between 500 and 6000 kilowatts. The evolution of their static characteristics for different evaporation temperatures was determined. Evaporator characteristics were obtained in the same way. By comparing these characteristics a stability criterion can be defined. Instabilities appear for low rotational speeds and temperatures, limiting the capacity range to a ratio of about 1 to 3.
