AIR-CYCLE COOLERS, ALSO CALLED TURBO AIR COOLERS, ARE BEING MORE WIDELY USED. THEIR ADVANTAGE LIES IN THEIR LIGHT STRUCTURE AND REASONABLE INVESTMENT COSTS. THEIR DISADVANTAGES ARE IN THEIR LOW COOLING CAPACITY AND HIGH OPERATING NOISE LEVEL. DEVELOPMENTS IN THIS FIELD AND SOME OF THEIR APPLICATIONS ARE DESCRIBED: AIR CONDITIONING OF BUSES, AIR-CYCLE COOLING OF MINES, EQUIPMENT FOR THE RAPID COOLING OF AIRCRAFT CABINS.
