Summary

THE OPERATING DEFICIENCIES OF FLOODED IKR-2000 EVAPORATORS WERE OBSERVED. THE AUTHORS SHOW THAT THE IRRIGATION OF THE HIGHER PORTION OF TUBES EXCLUDES THE POSSIBLE QUICK OVERFLOW BY THE LIQUID REFRIGERANT IN THE SPACE BETWEEN THE TUBES AND ALSO REDUCES THE EFFECT OF THE HYDROSTATIC COLUMN ON BOILING TEMPERATURE. THE AUTHORS ALSO OBSERVED THAT THE USE OF COMBINED SPRAY-FLOODED ASSEMBLY PROVIDES A RELIABLE ECONOMIC OPERATION OF THE EVAPORATOR AT A BOILING TEMPERATURE OF 233 K, WITH A THERMAL LOAD OF 900 KILOW ON EACH UNIT.
