Optimal control of refrigerated display cabinets by means of programmable logical controllers (PLCs).
[In Italian. / En italien.]
Type of article: Article
Summary
A description of an advanced system controlling the operation of the refrigerating circuit of a large supermarket in Italy which is equipped with a great number of display cabinets and refrigerated rooms, connected to a centralized refrigerating system. The control system, based on PLCs is composed of a central unit to which each peripheric unit is connected. Whereas local controllers operate each evaporator and control temperature and defrosting routines, the central unit supervises the operation of the compressors and may share the refrigerating capacity, depending on priorities; moreover it records any possible trouble and starts the safety procedures, when needed.
