Summary

Both the states and the performance of a refrigerating and air-conditioning system are mainly determined by the speed of the compressor and the refrigerant charge in the system, which is studied experimentally on a split air conditioner. A new rule, general energy efficiency ratio, for evaluating the performance at different compressor speeds, was set up for the optimization of the refrigerant charge in the system. The results provide a quick and accurate design to improve the performance of refrigerant and air-conditioning system with a variable speed compressor.
