Summary

The energy efficiency of a photovoltaic refrigeration system, comprising a chamber, a refrigeration storage cell, a photocell panel, a storage battery and a compressor unit with an electronic control unit supplying direct current, depends on several factors, such as ambient temperature, refrigeration COP and operating mode. The latter can be simultaneous with the sun, or differed, with a nighttime topping off to offset losses during the day. The lowest number of photovoltaic modules to be fixed determines the optimal operating mode.
