Optimisation of air circulation in a vertical frozen food display cabinet.

Author(s) : SCHIESARO P., CORTELLA G.

Summary

In the paper, the process involved in the optimization of the air curtains at the design stage for a vertical display cabinet for frozen foods is reported. First, a numerical simulation using a Computational Fluid Dynamics technique was employed, with the purpose of checking the influence of an important parameter, such as air velocity, on the air flow pattern over the open front. Then tests were carried out to verify the actual flow pattern. The results of temperature tests according to the EN441/1-12 Standards and of velocity and temperature measurements on the air curtains are reported.
