Summary
The vertical open display cabinet is a common type of cabinet which has a high energy consumption. The paper discusses energy models and air distribution in the cabinet. Energy balance considerations and experimental results show that infiltration is the predominant heat load factor. Computational fluid dynamics is used in order to study the air distribution. Different models are presented and discussed and the influence of the load inside the cabinet is investigated. The research also deals with the difficulties of measuring low air velocities.
