Summary

The authors investigated a layered structural regenerator (multilayer regenerator) with magnetic regenerator materials using a two-stage Gifford-McMahon refrigerator. In the study they used erbium(0.75)-gadolinium(0.25)-nickel which was expected to be placed in the high temperature part of the second regenerator. They made two kinds of second regenerator: a triple layer regenerator with erbium(0.75)-gadolinium(0.25)-nickel, erbium(3)-cobalt and erbium(0.9)-ytterbium(0.1)-nickel, and a double layer regenerator with erbium(3)-cobalt and erbium(0.9)-ytterbium(0.1)-nickel. Their refrigeration performances were experimentally compared.
