Summary

With the phase-out of R22, under the Montreal Protocol on Substances that Deplete the Ozone Layer, set for 2040 for South Africa, the refrigeration and air-conditioning sector still relies heavily on this interim product, both for local use and for export of pre-charged units into Africa. However a move away from this traditional refrigerant is set to grow as new systems and components, based on R410A become more readily available, to complement R407C.
