Oriented-structure capillary sheet generating a powerful and stable heat transfer for evaporators and condensers of refrigerating machines.

Mèche à structure orientée capillaire qui génère un flux d'échange thermique intense et stable pour les évaporateurs et condenseurs de machines frigorifiques.

Author(s) : ARAGOU Y.

Summary

The author proposes to improve the efficiency of tubular-type evaporators and condensers by lining the insides of the tubes with a microperforated sheet grooved on both sides. This sheet helps ensure even and constant distribution of the liquid phase, regardless of the liquid/vapour composition and the mass flow rate of the refrigerant fluid. The results of the tests carried out by the Heat Exchanger Research Group of the Nuclear Studies Centre, in Grenoble, France, are given: the internal heat-transfer coefficient is 2 to 5 times greater than that of the smooth tube; annual overall energy consumption is 50% lower; the space requirement of the exchangers was reduced by 30%; and the sound level was brought down by 3 decibels.
