Particularities of structure and some mechanical properties of ice frozen over solids.

Summary

The results of experimental studies of structure and elastic moduli of ice covers forming on solids are presented and discussed. It is established that the ice structure depends on the following factors: physical characteristics of substrate material, temperature of icing, water salinity (freshwater and saline ice elastic moduli were obtained as a function of temperature and salinity). It is shown that considerable variations occur in the studied parameters.
