Summary

THERMAL EXPANSION OF THE TITANIUM-NIOBIUM ALLOY AND INDUSTRIAL SUPERCONDUCTING COMPOSITES ON ITS BASE HAS BEEN STUDIED BY THE DILATOMETRIC TECHNIQUE. HYSTERESIS OF THE THERMAL EXPANSION COEFFICIENT VALUES IN THE COOLING-HEATING REGIME IN THE RANGE 300 TO 150 K AND THE NEGATIVE VALUES OF THE THERMAL EXPANSION COEFFICIENT BELOW 7 TO 8 K WERE FOUND. THESE PECULIARITIES ARE SHOWN TO BE DUE TO MATRIX PLASTIC DEFORMATION ON COOLING AND BIMETALLIC EFFECT AFTER TWISTING.
