Summary

NUMERICAL AND EXPERIMENTAL ANALYSIS OF ROLLING PISTON TYPE ROTARY COMPRESSOR IS PERFORMED. COMPUTER PROGRAMMING IS DEVELOPED TO PREDICT THE BEHAVIOUR OF COMPRESSOR'S MOVING PARTS AND THE LEAKAGE PHENOMENA THROUGH CLEARANCES. DYNAMICS OF VALVE MOTION IS ALSO CONSIDERED. OPTIMAL DIMENSIONS OF THE COMPRESSOR ARE CALCULATED AND A PROTOTYPE IS MADE ACCORDING TO THE PREDICTIONS. THE RESULTS SHOW THAT THERE ARE CERTAIN RANGES OF CLEARANCES WHICH MAXIMIZE THE PERFORMANCE.
