Performance analysis on variable displacement swash plate compressor for automotive air conditioners.

Author(s) : WU J. H., WANG F., HOU J.

Summary

This paper analyzes the performance of swash plate compressors in various working conditions by means of numerical simulation. Besides cylinder, suction manifold and discharge manifold, a swash plate manifold is also taken as a control volume to study the effect of control circuit on the compressor performance in the simulation. The energy differential equations and mass differential equations of the control volumes are given. The valve dynamic model is developed by means of finite element method. The simulated results are in good agreement with test. The variation of pressure in the cylinder and the variation of performance parameters of the compressor are shown and analyzed. The loss distributions of capacity and power are also shown. The main factors influencing volumetric efficiency are discussed.
