Summary

Use of two-phase-flow throttle loss recovery devices in water-cooled chillers requires satisfactory part-load operation. The paper describes the results of two-phase-flow impulse turbine testing and the data reduction of the test results into a two-phase-flow turbine off-design performance model. It was found that the main parameter controlling the efficiency of two-phase-flow turbine is the ratio of the nozzle spouting velocity to the rotor speed.
