Summary

The cold end heat exchanger in a cryocooler is of great importance for efficient heat transfer between the working fluid and the heat load, especially for a high power pulse tube cooler (PTC). Calculation results show that the cooling power of a single-stage PTC increases significantly by improving the cold end heat exchanger. The total heat conductance of previous cold end heat exchanger (including slot heat exchanger and cold end flow channel) is only 56.1 W/K and the heat conductance increases to 112.6 W/K after improvement. Experimental results showed that the cooling power of the single-stage PTC increased remarkably with the modified cold end heat exchanger.
