Summary
A theoretical investigation is made on fundamentals of heat transfer process of regenerators with two simple structures: parallel plates and circular tubes. It is found that the heat transfer process is composed of two parts: one caused by the effect of gas compressibility and the other caused by the oscillating flow with a non-zero temperature gradient. Expressions of the complex Nusselt number are obtained and discussed.
