Performance of finned-tube heat exchangers under frosting conditions. 2. Comparison of experimental data with model.

Author(s) : KONDEPUDI S. N., O'NEAL D. L.

Type of article: Article, IJR article

Summary

The paper presents some comparisons of the experimental data obtained with the analytical model presented in part 1 of the paper. The comparisons are made in terms of frost growth, airside pressure drop and energy transfer coefficient. It was found that the model typically underpredicted the experimental results by 15 to 20%. Reasons for the discrepancies between the frost model and the experimental data are discussed and it is postulated that better frost thermal properties and heat transfer data under frosting will help to improve the model.
