Performance of non-ozone depleting zeotropic refrigerant mixtures in heat transfer.

Author(s) : GAO Y., TIAN H. Z., YUAN X. L., et al.

Summary

ZERMs (zeotropic-mixtures) are alternative refrigerants that do not deplete the ozone layer and have similar thermodynamic properties to those of conventional refrigerants. Now the local heat transfer coefficient, instead of the average heat transfer coefficient, is used to design heat exchangers. A new numerical method is proposed to simulate the flow and heat transfer in evaporators. The comparison of simulations with the experimental data shows that the correlations of the local heat transfer coefficients for pure refrigerants should be modified when used in the calculation of heat transfer for ZERMs.
