Summary

REPORT ON THE RESULTS OF A HEAT TRANSFER TEST, WITH R114 AND NON-AZEOTROPIC MIXTURES (R114-R152A AND R114-R12) EVAPORATING OR CONDENSING DURINGTHEIR FLOW ALONG TUBES ON THE SHELL SIDE OF A VERTICAL SHELL AND TUBE HEAT EXCHANGER. FOR BOTH EVAPORATION AND CONDENSATION, EXPERIMENTAL HEAT TRANSFER COEFFICIENTS WERE COMPARED WITH EMPIRICAL OR THEORETICAL CORRELATIONS FROM PREVIOUSLYPUBLISHED LITERATURE. GOOD AGREEMENTS WERE OBTAINED FOR PURE R114: SOME DISCREPANCIES WERE OBSERVED FOR MIXTURES. TEMPERATURE VARIATIONS ALONG THE FLOW WERE ALSO MEASURED, OBTAINING REASONABLY SATISFACTORY RESULTS.
