Performance of two-phase ejector of various geometries.

Author(s) : BUTRYMOWICZ D., KARWACKI J., MIASKOWSKA D., et al.

Summary

The throttling loss in compression refrigeration system may be significantly reduced by means of two-phase liquid-vapour ejector in the liquid line. This ejector produce the interstage pressure in the system, therefore it operates as a booster compressor. The appropriate operation of the ejector requires a special design which is the reason for the experimental investigations. A special testing stand for investigation of two-phase ejectors has been described in the paper. The selected experimental results of performance of the two-phase ejector operating with refrigerant R-123 have been presented. The effect of the geometry of the mixing chamber as well as operating parameters on the efficiency and compression ratio has been showed. The pressure distributions in the ejector for various compression ratios have been also presented.
