Summary

AN ABSORPTION AIR-COOLING APPARATUS USING AMMONIUM BROMIDE-AMMONIA AND AMMONIUM IODIDE-AMMONIA SYSTEMS WAS DESIGNED AND TESTED IN ORDER TO MOST EFFECTIVELY UTILIZE LOW ENERGY (IE, SOLAR ENERGY AND HOT DRAIN). THIS APPARATUS USED LIQUID AMMONIA AS THE REFRIGERANT AND AMMONIUM HALIDES AS THE ABSORBENT. THE COP OF THE APPARATUS USING THESE TWO SYSTEMS WERE DETERMINED FOR THE SAME OPERATING CONDITIONS, AND THESE VALUES ARE DISCUSSED AND COMPARED WITH THE ONES CALCULATED FROM THE ENTHALPY-CONCENTRATION CHARTS.
