A PERIODICAL SORPTION-TYPE HEAT PUMP FOR LOW-TEMPERATURE HEATING SYSTEMS IS PRESENTED. WITH THE INTERMITTENT MODE OF OPERATION, THE SORBENT REMAINS PERMANENTLY INSIDE THE APPARATUS. THIS, IN TURN, MEANS THAT WORKING FLUIDS CONSISTING OF CARBONATE, ZEOLITES, OR ACTIVATED CARBON AS SOLID SORBENTS AND AMMONIA, METHANOL, OR WATER AS CIRCULATING FLUID MAY BE USED. COP ARE PRESENTED AND DISCUSSED FOR THESE WORKING FLUIDS AS A FUNCTION OF AMBIENT TEMPERATURE IN ORDER TO DEFINE THE LIMITS OF APPLICATION.
