Phase equilibria for systems containing hydrocarbons, water, and salt: an extended Peng-Robinson equation of state.

Author(s) : WU J., PRAUSNITZ J. M.

Type of article: Article

Summary

Results showed that the extended Peng-Robinson equation of state is useful for describing systems containing the usual components described by the original Peng-Robinson equation of state in addition to water and sodium chloride. However, the authors state that their theoretical framework is not adequate for those systems where hydrophobic effect is significant, i.e., for solutions of hydrocarbons in water at temperatures below (about) 100 deg C.
