Summary
This article describes a method used to simulate the continuous-duty performance of air conditioning units, heat pumps and refrigerating plant using a thermodynamic cycle with vapour compression. Separate physical models of each component of the cycle are used to simulate the machine overall: the user is able to assemble in a dynamic manner. Very accurate results are obtained. The models proposed were validated using machines fitted with instruments and tested by Cetiat. Calculations led to deviations of about 5% for capacity where components had been previously identified. The refrigerant charge is one of the parameters taken into account. This software will be very useful during the phasing in of new refrigerant fluids.
