THE REPORT IS BASED ON EXPERIMENTAL RESULTS FOR A HEAT PUMP EVAPORATOR DURING FROST FORMATION. TEMPERATURE RANGE FOR THE INLET AIR STANDS BETWEEN 268 AND 276 K (-5 AND 3 DEG C) LED TO INTERESTING OBSERVATIONS THAT CAN HELP TO FIND AN OPTIMUM CYCLE-DURATION FOR THE SPECIFIC MACHINE. IT HAS BEEN EVIDENCED THAT THE FIRST OPERATION OF THE EXPANSION VALVE IS SITUATED AROUND THE HALF OF THE TOTAL TIME OF THE CYCLE.
